Principal Jenkins

Dear Parents and Guardians:

I would like to welcome you to the start of a new school year. A new school year brings expectations of meaningful learning, acceptance of challenges, and personal growth for all students. High expectations are welcomed. Challenges afford us opportunities to reach targeted goals. Personal growth involves a steady process of maturation and achievement.

Parents and guardians play an important role in the success of students. Your support and participation in the learning process is encouraged. Parents are encouraged to have students attend school each day school is in attendance. The high school attendance office will initiate automated calls to notify parents of student absences and tardiness to school.

Teachers will be responsible for posting grades and assignments on the district’s website at the community or parent portal. Parents will be provided with the appropriate access information. Please take advantage of this provision and contact your student’s teachers or guidance counselor if you have questions or concerns.

Our challenge this year is to address the high school’s annual progress on state assessments (High School Proficiency Assessment or HSPA and the New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge Grades 7 and 8 or NJ ASK 7 & 8.). District staff will meet to analyze test data, plan to use the data to drive instruction, and to have candid discussions related to the strengths of weaknesses of our program of instruction. Strategies will be developed to address our needs and to enhance student achievement. Parents and guardians will be notified of these plans and you are encouraged to contribute to our efforts by joining parent-school support groups.

Please continue to engage your students in conversations about school safety and personal growth. The high school is responsible for providing each student with a safe environment in which to learn and to attain personal and academic goals. The staff and faculty of Burlington City High School welcome the opportunity to serve you. Best wishes for a successful and rewarding school experience.

Sincerely,

Julian Jenkins, Jr. Principal
